The Boston Red Sox maintain a 5-0 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals heading into the fifth inning in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series on Wednesday.
World Series Game 1, Cardinals vs. Red Sox score update: Boston still leads, 5-0
Red Sox starter Jon Lester prevented the Cardinals from getting back into the game with some stellar defense in the fourth inning.

The Red Sox took advantage of multiple miscues by the Cardinals' defense in the first and second innings en route to building their comfortable lead. Boston starter Jon Lester has done his part, as well, striking out five batters through four scoreless innings and escaping from a situation that could have allowed St. Louis back into the game.
With the bases loaded and only one out in the top of the fourth, Lester fielded a comebacker off the bat of Cardinals third baseman David Freese and started a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning.
Lester also did this to poor Allen Craig, who hasn't played in a big-league game in almost two months:
Only three of the five runs allowed by Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright are earned. He's given up five hits and a walk while punching out four.
