San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria interviewed with Seattle Mariners general manager Jeff Zduriencik about the open Mariners manager position, reports Greg Johns of MLB.com.
Rick Renteria interviewed for Mariners manager
Renteria has interviewed with the Mariners and the Cubs for their open manager positions.

Renteria has been on the Padres major league staff for six seasons, including three seasons as the bench coach. He has been in the Padres organization since 2003, managing the club’s Single-A team for four seasons and the Triple-A team for one.
The 51-year-old also spent four seasons in the Marlins organization, serving as the manager in Single-A and Double-A. He won the Midwest League Manager of the Year award in 1999.
Renteria has interviewed with the Chicago Cubs, and is reportedly the favorite to land their manager job. Neither team is expected to make an announcement regarding a new manager until after the World Series.
Brad Ausmus is also a candidate for the Mariners, according to Johns. Ausmus has been considered by a number of teams for manager, including the Detroit Tigers.
