2013 World Series Game 4, Red Sox vs. Cardinals score update: Boston, St. Louis scoreless after 2 innings

Nothing doing in St. Louis yet, other than concerns about Clay Buchholz’s velocity.

Ronald Martinez

The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals are scoreless through two innings in Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday.

Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz has yet to allow a run and has surrendered only one hit despite working mostly in the mid- to high-80's with his fastball and not topping 90 MPH with the pitch. Buchholz, who averaged 92 MPH on his fastball during the regular season, had some trouble with his routine warm-up tosses prior to the top of the second inning.

Boston's coaching staff was visibly concerned in the dugout but chose to stick with the 29-year-old right-hander anyway. Buchholz gave up a one-out double to Yadier Molina and walked Jon Jay, but he bounced back to strike out David Freese and got Daniel Descalso to ground out.

Cardinals starter Lance Lynn allowed an infield single to David Ortiz to lead off the second but immediately erased him by inducing a double play grounder off the bat of Jonny Gomes.
