Red Sox vs. Cardinals, 2013 World Series Game 4 score update: Boston ties game, 1-1, in 5th inning

The Red Sox scratched across a run in the fifth to help scuffling starter Clay Buchholz.

Boston Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and nobody out in the fifth inning to move his team into a 1-1 tie with the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday.

Drew entered the at-bat 1-for-10 in the series and 4-for-46 in the postseason. He didn't add a hit to those totals but got enough of a first-pitch fastball from Lance Lynn to score David Ortiz, who was hit in the back by Matt Holliday's throw to the plate. Ortiz led off the inning with a double, and Lynn issued consecutive walks to Jonny Gomes, who saw 10 pitches in his at-bat, and Xander Bogaerts.

Ortiz has both of Boston’s hits against Lynn, who struck out David Ross and got Mike Carp to ground out with runners on first and second to end the threat.

Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz does not have his best stuff, but he's worked around three hits and three walks to allow only one run. He has notched two punch-outs.
