The Detroit Tigers will interview San Diego Padres special assistant Brad Ausmus and bench coach Rick Renteria for their open managerial position, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Both candidates have been linked to a number of vacant manager spots during the offseason. Ausmus interviewed for Nationals manager, and is a candidate for the Mariners job. Renteria is considered the favorite for the Cubs position, but is also being considered by Seattle.

Renteria is considered a strong candidate for a number of reasons, but is helped by his ability to speak Spanish; Buster Olney of ESPN reported that the Cubs want to hire a bilingual manager. Ausmus has had the reputation of a smart baseball mind since his playing days, and spent three years of his 18-year career with Detroit.

Detroit has already interviewed hitting coach Lloyd McClendon and Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach for the position left vacant after Jim Leyland retired.
