Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz shot a ground-ball double past St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig to score Dustin Pedroia and give his team a 1-0 lead in the first inning of Game 5 of the World Series.
Red Sox take early lead on double by David Ortiz
David Ortiz continued his unreal streak at the plate in the first inning against Adam Wainwright, giving the Sox an early advantage.

Pedroia doubled off of Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright, who endured a similar rough beginning to Game 1, with one out in the inning. That set the table for Ortiz, who collected his ninth hit in 12 at-bats in the series.
Ortiz has six RBI and has yet to strike out in 17 World Series plate appearances.
