Matt Holliday hit a solo home run off of Jon Lester with one out in the fourth inning to move the St. Louis Cardinals into a 1-1 tie with the Boston Red Sox heading into the fifth inning in Game 5 of the World Series on Monday.
2013 World Series Game 5, Red Sox vs. Cardinals score update: Boston, St. Louis enter 5th inning in 1-1 tie
Matt Holliday’s second homer of the series got the Cards on the board in the fourth inning.

Holliday, who entered the game with the Cardinals’ only home run of the series, clobbered a 1-0 fastball from Lester into dead-center field. It was Holliday’s fourth home run of the 2013 postseason.
Carlos Beltran came a few feet away from giving the Cards the lead in the next at-bat, but his long fly ball fell into the glove of Red Sox left fielder Jonny Gomes for the second out of the fourth. Lester retired Yadier Molina on a sharp liner to shorstop to get out of the inning. He has allowed the one run on three hits through four innings and has struck out five.
Despite trailing by a run, Adam Wainwright is pitching much better than he did in the series opener. The Cardinals' ace has six punch-outs and has kept Boston's bats relatively quiet, with the exception of David Ortiz.
Ortiz drove in the only run of the game on a first-inning double and also singled to start the fourth for his 10th hit in 13 World Series at-bats. He was erased on a double play grounder off the bat of Daniel Nava to end the inning.
