David Ross doubles in go-ahead run in 7th, gets thrown out at home to end inning

Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross laced a double down the left field line to give his team a 2-1 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh inning of Game 5 of the World Series.

Ross, who entered the game 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in the series, made his second hit of the night against Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright count.

The ball skipped over the wall, temporarily preventing the Sox from adding another run as Stephen Drew was forced to remain at third base.. However, Jacoby Ellsbury looped a single into center field two batters later to plate Drew. Ross was thrown out at the plate for the third out of the inning.
