The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals are tied, 1-1, after six innings in Game 5 of the World Series on Monday.

Jon Lester and Adam Wainwright would each like one pitch back. They’ve been dominant otherwise.
A first-inning RBI double by David Ortiz and a solo home run from Matt Holliday in the fourth inning stand as the only runs of the game thus far. Both starting pitchers have been nearly flawless aside from those innings.
Red Sox starter Jon Lester has allowed only three hits while striking out six in six innings. Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright has nine strikeouts while allowing five hits in the same timeframe.
After Holliday's game-tying blast, the Red Sox started a fifth-inning rally with base-hits from Xander Bogaerts and David Ross. However, Lester was unable to get a bunt down with one out and a batter later, Wainwright struck out Jacoby Ellsbury, who entered the at-bat 5-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the series, to end the threat.
Wainwright continued the momentum into the sixth inning, retiring the heart of Boston’s order. That included Ortiz, who lined out sharply to center field to end a streak of nine consecutive plate appearances in which he reached base.
