The Pittsburgh Pirates' historic season continues on Thursday in Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals at 5 p.m. ET on TBS.

The Pirates won their first postseason game in 21 years on Tuesday, earning a 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Wild Card game. Now, they turn their attention to a team that has appeared in the postseason in three out of the past four seasons -- and nine times since the turn of the century.

St. Louis, which has won a total of 57 postseason games since the Pirates' last playoff appearance in 1992, will send Adam Wainwright to the hill in Game 1. Wainwright went 19-9 with a 2.94 ERA during the regular season and was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh will counter with A.J. Burnett, who finished 10-11 with a 3.30 ERA. In six starts against the Cardinals this season, Burnett went 3-1 with a 3.67 ERA.
