Hanley Ramirez added a run to the Dodgers' lead with an RBI double in the sixth, driving in Mark Ellis to take a 6-1 lead over the Braves on Thursday night.

The Dodgers added another run and Clayton Kershaw shifted back into shutdown mode.

Even worse for Atlanta, Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw found the zone again in the fifth after struggling with his control in the fourth and giving up a run. Kershaw shook off that tough inning and struck out the side in the fifth while displaying some seriously nasty stuff:
He kept things going into the sixth, punching out the first two hitters for a streak of six consecutive Ks.
Luis Ayala replaced Kris Medlen with no one out in the fifth inning. Medlen had gotten into trouble again, giving up a single to Adrian Gonzalez and hitting Yasiel Puig with a first-pitch changeup. Ayala struck out two with the bases loaded to keep the Braves within four. Unfortunately, Jordan Walden wasn't able to match that feat, allowing an Ellis single and then Ramirez's double to put the Dodger lead back up to five.
