Stephen Drew homers to snap 4-for-51 skid

Michael Wacha’s run of dominance is officially over after he allowed a home run to the badly struggling Stephen Drew.

Jared Wickerham

Stephen Drew entered his second plate appearance in Game 6 on Wednesday in a massive 4-for-51 slump during the 2013 postseason. The Red Sox shortstop ended the skid in a big way in the fourth inning.

Drew took a first-pitch fastball from Cardinals starter Michael Wacha and crushed it into the Boston bullpen to give his team a 4-0 lead.

Jacoby Ellsbury nearly hit the second home run of the inning two batters later, bouncing a ball off the right field wall for a double.

Wacha came into the game having allowed only three runs in 27 postseason innings before being bashed around by the Sox, who look well on their way to winning their third World Series title in the last decade. The 22-year-old rookie was pulled with two outs in the fourth.
