Red Sox vs. Rays score: Boston piles on, now up 8-2

The Red Sox are now in complete control of Game 1.

Turns out that the Red Sox weren’t done scoring. After their five-run 4th inning, they got right back to it in the 5th by plating three more runs.

With one out, Mike Napoli doubled and Jonny Gomes was intentionally walked. Jarrod Saltalamacchia followed with a double to left which scored both runners and chased starter Matt Moore from the game. Wesley Wright came on in relief, but he ultimately allowed Salty to score on a single by Jacoby Ellsbury. Rookie starting pitcher Chris Archer came out of the pen to replace Wright, and finally got out of the inning by striking out Dustin Pedroia. It is probably safe to assume that Archer will be throwing several innings in this game to mop-up the mess and save the rest of the bullpen.

Tampa Bay went down in order in the top of the 6th, and Boston is coming up to bat yet again. Keep your eyes out for flying baseballs if you live within a couple miles of Fenway Park, because the Red Sox are destroying the ball right now.
