The Detroit Tigers lead the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, after eight innings of action in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Friday.
Tigers vs. Athletics, 2013 ALDS Game 1 score update: Oakland cuts deficit to 3-2
Yoenis Cespedes crushed a two-run homer to get Oakland back into the game.

The Tigers scored three times in the opening inning and maintained a 3-0 lead until Yoenis Cespedes drilled a two-run homer off of Max Scherzer in the bottom of the seventh.
Brandon Moss led off the inning with an infield single, recording only the second hit of the game for the A’s. Cespedes, whose triple off of Scherzer in the second inning represented Oakland’s only hit prior to Moss’ dribbler, followed by clobbering a 2-2 fastball into the left field seats.
Scherzer retired the next three batters and ended his night with 11 strikeouts and two walks in seven strong frames.
Cespedes nearly spoiled the momentum he gave his team with the home run when he misplayed a line drive off the bat of Victor Martinez with two outs in the eighth. However, A's reliever Sean Doolittle struck out Alex Avila to render the error meaningless.
A's starter Bartolo Colon settled in after the rough first inning and struck out four in six innings. He scattered 10 hits, but did not issue a free pass.
