Rays vs. Red Sox score update, ALDS Game 2: Boston extends lead to 5-1

Adding runs in the third and fourth innings, the Boston Red Sox have taken a 5-1 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays through four innings in Game 2 of the American League Division Series. It's been a rough few innings Saturday night for David Price against a deep Boston lineup.

After starting the damage early with the leadoff single in the first inning, Jacoby Ellsbury added to his statistics with an RBI double in the third. With David Ross on second after a deep shot off the Green Monster, Ellsbury blooped one over Evan Longoria near the third base line to extend the lead:

Later in the inning, the Red Sox added another run on a fielder's choice from Dustin Pedroia, which knocked in Ellsbury after a Shane Victorino single moved him to third base. Price managed to get out of the jam after that, retiring David Ortiz and Mike Napoli, but the damage wasn't done.

With an opportunity for a pivotal double play during the fourth inning, Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist air-mailed the throw to first base:

That put Jonny Gomes on second base. Price got Will Middlebrooks to ground out and then forced Stephen Drew into an 0-2 count. At that point, it seemed the lefty would get out of another jam, until Drew ended up lacing a ball off the wall to add another insurance run. Now, the question is simply how long manager Joe Maddon can stick with Price.

Boston starter John Lackey has rebounded nicely from the second inning. He's now allowed one run on three hits over four innings with five strikeouts.
