The Seattle Mariners have approximately 20 managerial candidates they would like to interview about the team's vacant position, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Three names known to be on their list are Chip Hale, Ron Wotus and Pete Mackanin.
Chip Hale, Ron Wotus, Pete Mackanin among Mariners managerial candidates, per report
The Mariners are looking to fill their managerial position after Eric Wedge unexpectedly quit.

Mackanin is in an interesting position since he just accepted a job this week the become the third base coach for the Philadelphia Phillies on Ryne Sandberg's staff. A former interim manager for the Pirates in 2005 and the Reds in 2007, Mackanin has a 53-53 record at the helm of a team. He has also spent time as a scout, a bench coach and a minor league manager.
Wotus played two years for the Pittsburgh Pirates as an infielder in the '80s. He also played in the minors for the Orioles, Royals and Giants.
Wotus has stayed with San Francisco following his playing career, beginning first as a minor league manager from 1991 to 1997, winning the Pacific Coast League’s Manager of the Year award in 1997.
He then became the third base coach for the major league team for a year and has served as Giants’ bench coach since 1999.
Hale is also a former PCL Manager of the Year, winning the award in 2006 as manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate. After three seasons managing in the minors, he was brought up as a coach for Arizona, then moved to the Mets in 2009 as a third base coach. In New York, he had been a candidate to replace Jerry Narron as manager before the position went to Terry Collins. Hale has been the bench coach for the Oakland Athletics since 2012.
The Mariners are looking to fill the hole left by former manager Eric Wedge. Wedge surprisingly resigned following the 2013 regular season, claiming he and the front office did not see eye-to-eye on the club’s future. The team is expected to begin the interviewing process in about a week.
