David Price trade rumors: Rays P expects to be dealt

Price told a nerd that the Rays’ history of dealing pitchers has him thinking he’ll be traded, and that it entered his mind “several times” of late.

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price seems to believe his days with the team are over, if what he said on Wednesday is any indication.

For more on Price and the Rays, head over to DRaysBay.

When asked about his future with the team, Price had the following to say to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times:

Price went on to say that, on several occasions, he has thought about whether or not he was making his final start with the team, per Topkin. One has to wonder if that affected Price in his last start, in which he allowed seven runs on nine hits in seven innings in the Rays' Game 2 loss to the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series.

The 28-year-old left-hander and 2012 Cy Young Award winner is under team control through the 2015 season.

The Rays dealt Matt Garza and James Shields in recent years before the hurlers reached free agency. In those trades, Tampa Bay received Chris Archer, Sam Fuld and Wil Myers, among others.
