The Toronto Blue Jays exercised 2014 contract options on Casey Janssen, Adam Lind and Mark DeRosa while declining the option on Munenori Kawasaki, first reported by Shi Davidi of Sportsnet and confirmed by the club in a press release.

Janssen and Lind will attempt to help the Blue Jays bounce back in 2014, while DeRosa is still considering retirement.

Lind and Janssen were both solid contributors on a mostly disappointing Blue Jays team. Lind bounced back after three straight below-average offensive campaigns, batting .288/.357/.497 with 23 home runs. Janssen thrived as the closer in Toronto, posting a 2.56 ERA with 34 saves in 36 chances.

DeRosa served as a part-time player, batting.235/.326/.407 over 236 plate appearances. The Blue Jays, however, like the veteran’s clubhouse presence and leadership abilities, according to Davidi. The 38 year-old has not decided if he will return next season.
Kawasaki quickly became a fan favorite with his antics and energized play, but only hit .229/.326/.308. Kawasaki will likely head back to Japan, and the Blue Jays were aware of his decision, according to Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star.
