Matt Williams was officially introduced as Washington's new manager on Friday. Williams spent four seasons on Arizona's coaching staff, most recently as their third-base coach, before accepting the managing position with Washington.

Several major league teams made announcements regarding their coaching staffs, including the Diamondbacks, Nationals and Rangers.

Williams will have two new faces on his coaching staff next year, as well: Matt LeCroy will replace Jim Lett as bullpen coach, and Mark Weidemaier will be added as a “defensive coordination advance coach,” in Williams’ words. The team will retain bench coach Randy Knorr, pitching coach Steve McCatty, hitting coach Rick Schu, first-base coach Tony Tarasco, and third-base coach Trent Jewett.

McKay joins D-Backs staff
With the departure of Williams, the Diamondbacks have shuffled around their coaching staff and added a new face to the mix. Dave McKay has joined the organization as their new first-base coach; McKay has been serving as a first-base coach consistently since 1989 for the Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, and, most recently, the Chicago Cubs. He has 30 years of major league coaching experience overall. Bullpen coach Glenn Sherlock will shift roles and replace Williams as the third-base coach, while Turner Ward will become the new hitting coach after serving as the assistant hitting coach last season. Alan Trammel will also remain with the team for his fourth season as the bench coach.
Jones joins Rangers
Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers announced that Bobby Jones will join their coaching staff in 2014, according to T.R. Sullivan of MLBlogs. Jones' role has yet to be determined, but it is possible that he could become the first-base coach; he most recently served as the manager of Texas' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock. The team is also considering adding a coach to help with catching instruction, with minor league instructor Hector Ortiz mentioned as a possible candidate.
