MLB Network analyst and former big-league infielder Harold Reynolds is the frontrunner to replace Tim McCarver and work alongside Joe Buck during Fox’s baseball broadcasts, according to multiple reports.

Reynolds, John Smoltz and Tom Verducci initially emerged as the candidates to take over for McCarver, per SI.com's Richard Deitsch. Reynolds appears to be the favorite among that group, reports Chad Finn of the Boston Globe.

Reynolds, 52, has been a key cog in MLB Network’s coverage since its inception in 2009. He has spent time on various programs, including MLB Tonight, Quick Pitch and MLB Now, which features banter between Reynolds and Brian Kenny regarding traditional and advanced statistics.

Prior to his time at MLB Network, Reynolds worked as an analyst for TBS, SportsNet New York, MLB.com and ESPN. Reynolds ended his playing career in 1994 after hitting .258/.327/.341 in 12 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles and California Angels.
