Matt Garza is open to returning to the Minnesota Twins and the two sides have met to discuss the possibility of a reunion, according to Darren Wolfson and Derek Wetmore of 1500 ESPN SportsWire. The 29-year-old was originally drafted by the Twins in 2005 and spent the first two seasons of his major league career pitching for the team.

Garza began the 2013 season with the Chicago Cubs before being dealt to the Texas Rangers in July. He posted a 3.82 ERA overall in 24 starts, but struggled after arriving in Texas and managed only a 4-5 record with a 4.38 ERA in 13 starts for the Rangers. Since he switched teams midseason, Garza was not eligible to receive a qualifying offer from Texas, meaning that the team who signs him will not have to surrender a draft pick as compensation. The Twins have not yet made an offer to the right-hander, report Wolfson and Wetmore.
Minnesota has several other pitchers on their radar as well, but have not yet made offers to any of them. They have been most strongly linked to Ricky Nolasco, and are also thought to be interested in Bronson Arroyo, Phil Hughes, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Jason Vargas.
