New Cincinnati Reds utility man Skip Schumaker will earn $5 million over two seasons under his agreed-upon contract, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Reds reportedly came to an agreement with the utility man on Monday.

The Reds and Schumaker were reported to have come to an agreement on a new contract Monday. At the time, financial details were not yet available. The deal is pending a physical.
Schumaker spent his first eight seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals before a trade last offseason sent him to the Dodgers. He spent all of 2013 in Los Angeles, hitting .263/.332/.332 over 125 games while playing second base and all three outfield spots. He picked up three hits in 19 plate appearances in the postseason.
With the Reds lineup mostly set, Schumaker will likely remain in a utility role with the team. Jay Bruce and Ryan Ludwick are at the corner outfielder spots with Brandon Phillips still the second baseman and Chris Heisey and Billy Hamilton fighting for time in center field. The team is also still hoping to re-sign Shin-Soo Choo. Schumaker could provide added insurance at second base if Phillips ends up being traded. Billy Hamilton would likely be given the first opportunity to take over starting at the position in the event of such a trade, though.
