Major League Baseball and the Astros announced Tuesday that Houston will host the 2014 Civil Rights Game on May 30 against the Orioles.
Astros to host 2014 Civil Rights Game on May 30
The annual contest has been played since 2007.

The annual contest has been played each year since 2007. It originally began as a spring training exhibition game, but moved to the regular season in 2009. Since 2009, it has been played in June once and August twice. The 2013 game will be the third time it has been played in May.
The game and activities surrounding it began as a way for the MLB honor those who fought for civil rights in America, whether they were involved in baseball or not. Other events that take place over the course of a week include the MLB Beacon Awards Luncheon, the Baseball & Civil Rights Movement Roundtable Discussion and a youth baseball and softball event.
This is the first time the game will involve either the Astros or Orioles. In 2013, the Civil Rights game was played on August 24 in Chicago when the White Sox took on the Texas Rangers.
