An MLB spokesperson told Neal that nothing official will be announced Tuesday because of an unknown issue that needs to be resolved, but the suspension appears to be a done deal.
According to the original report, word of the suspension emerged when Rosario contacted his winter ball team to inform them of it. The 22-year-old infielder, recently ranked the No. 7 prospect in the Twins' deep farm system, told the club that his failed drug test was the result of pills taken while recovering from an arm injury.
Rosario hit .302/.350/.460 with 10 home runs in 122 games between Single-A and Double-A this past season, putting him on the fast track to big-league club. Originally drafted as a center fielder, Rosario moved to the keystone full-time in 2013. He was likely to take over at second in Triple-A at the start of next season, but will now have to wait 50 games before getting things going.
