Mookie Betts followed with a walk, then swiped second base during the next at-bat. Delino DeShields bunted Betts over to third, who ended up scoring on a wild pitch from Bedrosian. Stefen Romero then lifted a two-run homer off Mike Montgomery in the bottom of the sixth, giving the West team a 6-0 advantage.

Both teams had scoring opportunities in the the fifth inning, but could not collect a hit with runners in scoring position.

Jorge Soler led off the top of the fifth with a single for the East and James Ramsey drew a two-out walk, but Ken Giles ended up stranding both runners by forcing a Brian Goodwin pop-out. The West had their first two runners of the inning reach base against Marcus Stroman, but two strikeouts and a flyout by the next three hitters ended the threat.

Keyvius Sampson worked a scoreless sixth for the West.
