Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon has finalized his coaching staff, and the new faces will include hitting coach Howard Johnson and first base coach Andy Van Slyke, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

McClendon was hired by the Mariners three weeks ago after previously serving as the hitting coach of the Detroit Tigers. His new staff will include the following coaches, via Greg Johns of MLB.com:

Johnson played 14 seasons in the majors, mostly for the New York Mets and Detroit Tigers. The third baseman was a two-time All-Star for the Mets, won two World Series titles ('84 Tigers, '86 Mets) and hit 228 home runs during his career. Van Slyke played for 13 seasons, mostly with the Pittsburgh Pirates (where he was a teammate of McClendon's) and St. Louis Cardinals. The outfielder was a three-time All-Star who hit 164 home runs and stole 245 bases at an 80.6 percent success rate during his career.
The only members of previous manager Eric Wedge's staff who are being retained in their previous positions are bullpen catcher Jason Phillips and left-handed batting-practice pitcher Scott Budner, reports Johns.
