Dodgers listening to offers for veteran outfielders

The Dodgers appear willing to move one of their high-priced veterans in a trade this offseason.

USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers are listening to trade offers for veteran outfielders Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Rosenthal’s article confirms an earlier report that indicated that Los Angeles would make Kemp and Ethier available during the offseason, but Rosenthal also suggests that Crawford could be available as well.

The Dodgers have four quality starting outfielders for three positions, and have no intentions of moving Yasiel Puig. The three veteran outfielders have expensive contracts making it likely Los Angeles would absorb some of the cost in a potential deal; Kemp is due $128 million over the next six years, Crawford $81.5 million over the next four, and Ethier $69 million over the next four.

Crawford and Ethier both had solid 2013 campaigns. Ethier hit .272./.360/.423, while Crawford reestablished some of his trade value after two disappointing seasons, batting .283/.329/.407, also contributing on the base paths and in the field.

Kemp had an injury-riddled and disappointing season, batting .270/.328/.395 and only appearing in 73 games.
