Free-agent starting pitcher Tim Hudson could get a new contract in the neighborhood of two years and $24 million, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports. The right-hander is receiving interest from several teams despite the fact that he is recovering from a serious ankle injury; he got a surgical screw removed from the joint on Thursday and is expected to start running again in a couple of weeks, reports David O'Brien the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Hudson's free agent resume is a mixed bag. On one hand, he missed the final two months of the 2013 season after breaking his ankle in July. Furthermore, that injury occurred just 10 days after his 38th birthday, so age is an issue for him as well. On the other hand, Hudson has remained effective deep into his thirties, and, although he has sustained some injuries along the way, his pitching arm has remained healthy. Helping his case is the fact that the Atlanta Braves did not extend him a qualifying offer, meaning that the team who signs him won't lose a draft pick.
Hudson has received interest from several teams, including the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Kansas City Royals. He made 21 starts last season, going 8-7 with a 3.97 in 131⅓ innings.
