After a healthy showcase in the Dominican Republic, the 14-year veteran has his eyes set on a return to the majors.

Tomko hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2011, but after an impressive showing in the Dominican Republic, he could draw interest from several clubs on a minor league deal. The 40-year-old was reportedly hitting 90-92 miles per hour with his fastball, and mixing in a solid changeup and slider. Perhaps most importantly, he’s healthy. In his 14-year career, Tomko was limited significantly by shoulder, biceps, and elbow injuries.
Before announcing his retirement in August, Tomko pitched with the York Revolution of the independent Atlantic League last season. Shortly thereafter, he signed on with the Kansas City Royals as a scout, but now, he appears fully invested in returning to the show. He's currently seeking a minor league deal and an invite to spring training and is willing to pitch in the minors as a starter or out of the bullpen.
In over 1,800 career innings, the right-hander went 100-103 with a 4.65 ERA for 10 different major league teams.
