2013 World Baseball Classic scores: Wednesday, March 6
A brief recap of the day’s action, followed by an updated look at the WBC standings for Round 1.

Here’s the breakdown of the game:
Cuba 6 Japan 3
The Cuban offense continued its heavy-slugging ways, mashing two long balls against Japan to claim the top spot in Pool A for Round 1. Right fielder Yasmany Tomas got the scoring started for the Cubans with a solo jack to left-center field in the third. The club then tacked on two more runs in the next three frames before left fielder Alfredo Despaigne put things away for good in the eighth with a three-run bomb. Despaigne’s blast proved to be the deciding factor in the game, as Japan’s own three-run spot in the top-half of the ninth came up short.
