After a week of sitting on the sidelines -- and injuring themselves -- Team USA finally gets its first go at World Baseball Classic action Friday night with a match-up against Mexico at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mexico vs. USA: TV schedule and preview for World Baseball Classic
Team USA kicks off its WBC play with a Friday night match-up against Mexico.

Mark Teixeira has been scratched from the US squad, but the team still boasts a powerful line-up capable of dominating Pool D. David Wright, Ryan Braun, Giancarlo Stanton, and Joe Mauer will fill out the middle of the order and reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey will take the hill for Team USA as they look to start their third WBC on the right track.
The U.S. offense will have its work cut out for it Friday night against a strong Mexican pitching staff looking to rebound from a heartbreaking, ninth-inning loss to Italy yesterday evening. Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo will take the hill for Mexico, and he'll likely hand the ball over to the powerful duo of Sergio Romo and Alfredo Aceves late in the game.
Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is the most recognizable name in Mexico's line-up, but Dickey, et al. would be remiss to overlook the team's potential to put a lot of runs on the board.
Date/Time: Friday, 7:00 p.m. local, 9:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
TV: MLB Network (U.S.), ESPN Deportes (U.S.)
Starting Pitchers: RHP Yovani Gallardo (Mexico) vs. RHP R.A. Dickey (USA)
