After the offseason gutting of the Marlin roster, Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton is the only big fish in town and oddsmakers believe he is a big favorite to hit more home runs than anyone else in 2013.

Giancarlo Stanton may be the lone threat in the Miami Marlin batting order this year, but oddsmakers think that works to his advantage when it comes to hitting home runs. Check out the 2013 home run odds list, courtesy of OddsShark.com.

Stanton, who hit 37 dingers last year in just 123 games, is the favorite at odds of right around 6/1, according to baseball odds aggregator OddsShark.com. Triple-crown winner Miguel Cabrera and Toronto Blue Jay Jose Bautista come next at 8/1.
Albert Pujols is getting 10/1 on the home run odds menu, Tiger Prince Fielder 12/1 and Dodger Matt Kemp and Angel Mike Trout 15/1.
Red Jay Bruce, new Angel Josh Hamilton, Phillie Ryan Howard, White Sock Adam Dunn, Brewer Ryan Braun and Angel Mike Trumbo are all lined at 20/1 to lead the ML in homers this year. Blue Jay Edwin Encarnacion is getting 25/1, and National Bryce Harper, Red Joey Votto and Brave Jason Heyward each are being offered at 30/1.
Elsewhere on the “most home runs” board Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez is getting 50/1, Baltimore’s Adam Jones is getting 60/1 and Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutchen, San Francisco’s Buster Posey, the Dodgers’ Hanley Ramirez, Cub Anthony Rizzo and Kansas City’s Billy Butler are all listed at 100/1.
Who will lead the Major Leagues in home runs this season? What closer will lead the Majors in saves? And what fireballer, or knuckleballer, will lead the Bigs in strikeouts?
Bettors who think they know the answers to those questions might want to try their luck at playing some MLB player proposition bets, where the possibility exists of cashing in at some very tempting prices.
Atlanta’s Craig Kimbrel, who converted 42 of 45 save opportunities last season, is the favorite to lead the Majors in saves this season at odds of right around 6/1. Tampa’s Fernando Rodney, who carded 48 saves last year, and San Francisco’s Sergio Romo, who went 14 for 15 in place of Brian Wilson, are both listed at 13/2 on the “most saves” board.
And Baltimore’s Jim Johnson, who led the Majors last year with 51 saves, Philly’s Jonathan Papelbon and Milwaukee’s John Axford are all getting 7/1 to end up as the saves champion for this season.
Among the other contenders, St. Louis’ Jason Motte, who recorded 42 saves last year, is getting 12/1; the Rangers’ Joe Nathan and the Pirates Joel Hanrahan, who had 37 and 36 saves respectively last year, are both getting 14/1; and the Yankees’ Mariano Rivera, in his swan-song season, is listed at 20/1 to lead the Majors in saves this season.
Finally, Justin Verlander, last year’s ML strikeout king, and Clayton Kershaw are 5/1 co-favorites to claim the crown of strikeout king for this season.
They’re followed on the “most whiffs” board by, among others, Yu Darvish at 11/2, Stephen Strasburg at 6/1, King Felix Hernandez at 8/1, Cole Hamels at 9/1, David Price and James Shields at 10/1, Gio Gonzalez and Tim Lincecum at 25/1 and knuckleballer RA Dickey, who’s moved to the American League after leading the National League in Ks last year, is getting 50/1.
