MLB Wednesday viewing guide: Game times, TV schedules
A look at the day’s MLB games, as well as where and when you can find them

DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Derek Holland (0-0), 2.57 ERA, 3.98 FIP | Matt Moore (1-0), 0.00 ERA, 1.45 FIP | 2:05 pm ET | Sun Sports, FOX Sports-Southwest |
Moore returns to the site of the greatest moment of his young three-year career, a two-hit, seven-inning shutout performance in Game 1 of the 2010 ALDS (just his second big-league start). Similarly, Moore pitched six innings of two-hit shutout ball in his first start of the season against the Indians, the Rangers’ lineup is much more potent than the Tribe.
Holland also pitched well in his 2013 debut-it only took him 94 pitches to throw seven strong at home. Some of the Rays' big hitters have an impressive history against him, most notably Evan Longoria. In 29 plate appearances, he's belted five doubles and four homers, good for a .423/.483/1.077 triple slash. That being said, these same Rays were dominated last night by rookie Nick Tepesch in his MLB debut. Longoria and Ben Zobrist are off to a good start, but they're going to need some help.

National League Game of the Day
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Jake Westbrook (0-1), 0.00 ERA, 5.52 FIP | Homer Bailey (1-0), 0.00 ERA, 2.62 FIP | 1:45 pm ET | FOX Sports-Ohio, FOX Sports-Midwest |
The series has lived up to the back and forth battle you'd expect from the two main NL Central contenders. The Reds used a ninth inning offensive outburst to take game one and followed it up with starter Bronson Arroyo pitching five perfect innings. The Cardinals shook off the slow start and broke through, thanks in part to Matt Adams' big home run, and found a way to win the game.
A great team is able to dust itself off after a tough defeat, and the Cardinals were able to do just that following Monday’s game. Can the same be said for the Reds today? It’s an incredibly long season, but this battle for the division looks like it will end up being one of the most exciting ones to watch play out throughout the summer.

DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Rick Porcello (0-1), 5.06 ERA, 8.37 FIP | Mark Buehrle (0-0), 10.13 ERA, 8.18 FIP | 1:08 pm ET | SNO, FOX Sports-Detroit, MLB.tv (free) |
The Jays are off to a disappointing 2-5 start, and they will need Buehrle to shake off a poor debut if they want to right the ship. The Tigers are still struggling to solve Porcello’s pitching woes, but the offense is nearly hitting .300 and the former AL Central stalwart Buehrle is nothing new to them.

DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Zach McAllister* (0-1), 3.00 ERA, 2.12 FIP | Ivan Nova (0-1), 7.71 ERA, 2.91 FIP | 7:05 pm ET | YES, SportsTime Ohio, ESPN |
*Not officially announced
After Wednesday's scheduled starter Brett Myers was forced into long relief yesterday for the ejected Carlos Carrasco, the Indians will probably turn to the former Yankee farmhand McAllister, who would be on regular rest. It will be the '06 Yankee third round pick's first appearance against them, and with the erratic Nova on the mound for the Yanks, the Tribe should be in good position to avoid a third straight home blowout.
DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Ryan Dempster (0-1), 5.40 ERA, 4.92 FIP | Jake Arrieta (0-0), 9.00 ERA, 2.92 FIP | 7:10 pm ET | MASN, NESN |
Neither Dempster nor Arrieta kicked off 2013 with good starts, so perhaps this game will be that classic battle of two offenses going at it in a hitter’s park.
DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Wade Davis (0-0), 9.00 ERA, 8.62 FIP | Liam Hendriks, (0-0), 7.71 ERA, 3.34 FIP | 8:10 pm ET | FOX Sports-North, FOX Sports- KC |
Davis’s first foray back to the rotation since 2011 was not so good, but facing a lesser offensive team than the Phillies at home in pitcher-friendly Kauffman Stadium should give him a pick-me-up.
DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Joe Blanton (0-1), 7.20 ERA, 9.92 FIP | Tommy Milone (1-0), 2.57 ERA, 6.12 FIP | 10:05 pm ET | CSCA, FOX Sports- West |
The Angels' rotation has fallen on dark times with ace Jered Weaver on the DL for six weeks and C.J. Wilson looking as shaky as he did last night against the A's. Here to save the day and match up with young A's stud Milone is... Joe Blanton? Uh-oh.
DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Blake Beavan (0-0), 9.00 ERA, 7.52 FIP | Brad Peacock (0-1), 4.15 ERA, 5.89 FIP | 10:10 pm ET | CSH, ROOT Sports |
While Seattle’s 16-9 loss Tuesday looks bad, it’s not going to Houston’s only blowout victory of the season -- baseball is weird like that. Houston and Seattle combined for eight homers last night, and there could be more fireworks with a pitching match-up that is not quite Warren Spahn/Juan Marichal.

DAY | HOME SP | VISIT. SP | TIME | WHERE |
10-Apr | Jordan Zimmermann (1-0), 1.50 ERA, 5.95 FIP | Gavin Floyd (0-1), 3.00 ERA, 1.95 FIP | 7:05 pm ET | CSC, MASN2 |
The Nats rode a barrage of homers last night to an 8-7 victory, and they'll try to take their second in a row against the White Sox by deploying the Z-Mann (not to be confused with the Z-man at third base). Zimmermann seems to be feeling better after experiencing some "dead arm" in spring training, but he will be challenged by the red hot Alex Rios, who hit his fourth homer last night and leads Chicago wtih a .407/.467/.852 triple slash.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Arizona Diamondback
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Wade Miley (1-0), 1.50 ERA, 3.12 FIP | Jonathan Sanchez (0-1), 5.40 ERA, 4.72 FIP | 3:40 pm ET | ROOT Sports, FOX Sports-Arizona |
After getting out to an early lead that they could not hold on to, the Diamondbacks will turn to their promising young pitcher to try to cool off the Pirates' offense that is starting to heat up. Russell Martin got his hit after all!
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Barry Zito (1-0), 0.00 ERA, 3.26 FIP | Jeff Francis (1-0), 1.50 ERA, 1.95 FIP | 3:45 pm ET | CSN-Bay Area, ROOT Sports |
Tim Lincecum wasn't sharp, but the Giants' offense, even without Buster Posey, got the job done against a hot Rockies team anyway with a late rally. San Francisco will try to make it nine-straight against the Rockies with a win today.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Kyle Kendrick (0-1), 7.94 ERA, 3.12 FIP | Jeremy Hefner (0-1), 1.50 ERA, 5.29 FIP | 7:05 pm ET | TCN, SNY |
As expected, Cliff Lee was able to save the Phillies from another night of bad pitching from their aces, but next up is h the mortal Kyle Kendrick, who is no Cliff Lee. Then again, neither is his opponent, Jeremy Hefner.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Alex Sanabia (1-0), 0.00 ERA, 4.79 FIP | Mike Minor (1-0), 1.23 ERA, 2.98 FIP | 7:10 pm ET | FOX Sports-South, FOX Sports-Florida |
This series is going as you might expect it would for Miami. The Braves are just playing too well right now; and Justin Upton is making it his personal mission to make every other team in baseball regret not trading for him when they had the chance. Things won't get easier for the Fish today when Mike Minor takes the ball; he shut down the Cubs in his first outing of 2013.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Scott Feldman (0-1), 7.71 ERA, 8.69 FIP | Kyle Lohse (0-0), 1.50 ERA, 1.45 FIP | 8:05 pm ET | FOX Sports-Wisconsin, CSN+ |
The Cubs ability to overcome three errors and an early deficit to beat the Brewers is a sign of how badly Milwaukee is scuffling right now. The Brew Crew demoted closer John Axford, but they weren't able to hide him well enough to keep him from taking the loss after allowing three earned runs late in the game. Kyle Lohse had a strong debut for the Brewers, and a repeat performance today would put his team in good shape to take this series.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
10-Apr | Eric Stults (1-0), 0.00 ERA, 1.52 FIP | Chad Billingsley (0-0), 0.00 ERA, 0.00 FIP | 10:10 pm ET | Prime Alternate, FOX Sports-San Diego |
Pinch-hitter yesterday, starting pitcher today -- Eric Stults can apparently do it all! The Padres were able to open their season at Petco Park with a win with help from Will Venable's bases-loaded triple and solo home run. Taking the series from the Dodgers would be huge for San Diego, but Chad Billingsley returns from an extended stint on the disabled list today to try and get Los Angeles back on track.
