Well, this certainly isn’t the Game of the Day because you expect lots of shutdown pitching. Chris Davis got his hot season started against the Rays when these two clubs met the first time around, and he has to be looking forward to trying to replicate those results in front of the crowds at Camden Yards this week.
On the flip side, maybe Jake Arrieta is exactly what the Rays’ bats need to get going after nearly being no-hit this weekend. Collectively, nearly all Tampa Bay hitters are in a bit of a slump right now, but this game could turn into a bit of a slugfest on both sides with these starters on the mound.

One of the biggest stories in the brief season so far is the oft-maligned Zito, who has yet to allow a run this year in 14 innings. Hell, going back to his must-win NLCS Game 5 start last year, Zito has given up just one run in all of his past four starts combined. Zito has fewer strikeouts than in his younger Oakland days, but superlative control in these starts (six combined walks) helped him avoid free baserunners.
The Brew Crew is really struggling right now, so Zito may very well continue his comeback. They’ve stumbled to one of their worst starts in franchise history, and with only 41 mediocre career innings to his credit, it doesn’t appear that Peralta will be the one to turn it around. It’s not all bad for Milwaukee though -- Ryan Braun and Norichika Aoki have both hit well, and last year’s prize of the Zach Greinke deal, shortstop Jean Segura, has hit .417/.462/.611.

Terry Francona will be managing against his old club for the first time and the Red Sox will be playing with heavy hearts after the events that occurred in their city yesterday.

As much as the Blue Jays have struggled, the struggling White Sox might have it worse after having lost six of their last seven games. Josh Johnson desperately needs to get on track and he might be able to do it against a team scuffling just as badly.

Just when you think the Angels might be turning a corner, they go and lose by six runs to the Twins. You can’t predict baseball, but you can predict that the fans in LA are going to start getting restless if this series doesn’t go in their favor.

The Astros have the Angels to thank for the fact that they aren’t last in the division already, but by the time that the Athletics get through with them this series, they might not be able to say that any longer.

Facing one of the hottest hitting teams in baseball with one of their best pitchers on the mound is not a recipe for success for the Mariners. Aaron Harang’s first battle since his trade to Seattle will definitely be an uphill climb.

Two right-handed pitchers off to slow starts must go to the most lefty-friendly ballpark in the majors to turn it around. That seems like a recipe for disaster. Perhaps the short porch will help D-backs catcher Miguel Montero heat up as well.

The Braves are 11-1 start to the season, and even though Guthrie is no slouch, the odds are in the Braves’ favor to extend their winning streak to double digits.

Adrian Beltre was arguably the Rangers’ best player last year, more valuable than Josh Hamilton. A .257 wOBA after 13 games is not what Texas needs from such an important player -- can the "Friendly Confines" get him going?

A terrific shortstop once said "Let’s play two!" After a second straight snowout for the Mets, that’s exactly what they will do; Ernie Banks would have loved to face any of these four mediocre pitchers, too.

Jonathan Sanchez appears to still be as disastrous as he was last year in Kansas City. If he disappoints for a third straight game, how long can Clint Hurdle keep him in the rotation if the Bucs want to contend?

Bronson Arroyo and Cliff Lee dueled for six scoreless innings last night. While it was surprising that Arroyo matched Lee, it would be even more unexpected if Kendrick/Bailey turns into a pitchers’ duel as well.

The Nats will probably cook the Fish for a second straight night. However, one wonders if homer-happy Haren might finally get Giancarlo Stanton hitting again. He hasn’t played since the 10th due to shoulder pains, but he could return today.

After a couple relief appearances, Capuano gets the unenviable task of subbing for Zack Greinke in the Dodgers’ rotation. Can Los Angeles exact revenge on the Padres through Greinke’s replacement?
