Major League Baseball opened 2013 with divisional rivalry series that generated immediate betting uptake.
MLB Betting Preview: Braves favored vs Phillies in NL East odds
Roy Halladay is an underdog, which is tempting many baseball bettors Wednesday. But Philly’s battle in Atlanta isn’t the only compelling rivalry game to bet on.

Among them, the Red Sox and Yankees are playing in New York; the Phillies and Braves are going at it in Atlanta; the Giants and Dodgers are renewing acquaintances in LA; and the Angels and Reds are doing the inter-league thing in Cincinnati.
But the most interesting midweek underdog situation seems to be Roy Halladay as a road dog in Atlanta. The baseball betting lines at most sportsbooks had the Braves, with Paul Malholm on the hill, at -130.
The Braves beat Philly Monday 7-5, banging out six extra-base hits, including three homers. Wednesday Atlanta, which won the season series with the Phillies last year 12 games to six, will look to continue its recent good fortune against its NL East rivals (7:10 pm ET).
In the early betting the Braves were favored by -130 over the Phillies.
Boston, coming off that miserable 2012 season, knocked off CC Sabathia and the Yankees Monday 8-2. The Sox will look to do the same to Hiroki Kuroda Wednesday (7:05 pm ET, ESPN2).
Last year New York took the season series from Boston 13 games to five. But at the moment the Yanks are beat up like nobody’s business; Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson are all out of action because of various ailments.
Early Wednesday morning, Boston - with Clay Buchholz hitting the hill - was listed as a +110 underdog against the Pinstripes on most baseball odds menus.
The Angels, trying to get back to the playoffs after missing the post-season the last three years, opened this season with a 3-1 win at Cincy Monday. Wednesday LA will try to take the series (7:10 pm ET).
In the early betting the Angels with CJ Wilson were getting +115 as underdogs against the Reds with Mat Latos.
And out at Chavez Ravine the Giants and Dodgers will play the rubber match of their season-opening three-game series (10:10 pm ET, ESPN2).
Los Angeles, behind Clayton Kershaw, took Monday’s game 4-0. San Francisco, behind Madison Bumgarner, took Tuesday’s game 3-0.
In the early MLB betting for Wednesday’s game the Dodgers with Josh Beckett were favored by -130 over the Giants with Tim Lincecum.
