Miguel Cabrera hits three home runs vs. Rangers

The reigning Triple Crown winner is unstoppable at the plate right now. He hit three more home runs against Texas Sunday night, helping him close in on the lead for each category of the prestigious honor yet again.

Miguel Cabrera continued his dominant hitting Sunday night by crushing three more home runs against the Texas Rangers, two of which came off of Derek Holland. He’s now hitting .423 with seven homers and 19 RBI in 17 games in May.

Cabrera had only accomplished this feat once in his career prior to Sunday’s game. He homered three times against the Oakland A’s back in May of 2010. He seems to enjoy this month.

While it’s still early in 2013, Cabrera is making a run at the Triple Crown. He leads all of baseball with a .387 average and 47 RBI. After adding three more bombs, he now trails the American League leaders by a single home run.

Unfortunately for Cabrera, his efforts were accompanied by a Tigers defeat, as they fell to 23-19 after losing 11-8 to the Rangers. Detroit heads to Cleveland next for a three-game series with the Indians.
