Curtis Granderson injury: Yankees place OF on 15-day DL, recall Brennan Boesch

Curtis Granderson is back on the disabled list after playing just eight games for the Yankees in 2013.

US PRESSWIRE

The New York Yankees placed Curtis Granderson on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, one day after the outfielder suffered a fracture in his left hand. In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Granderson was hit by a Cesar Ramos pitch in the fifth inning of the Yankees' 9-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Granderson stayed in the game long enough to score on Jayson Nix's bases-loaded walk, but did not return to the field for the bottom half of the inning.

Granderson played in just eight games this season after missing the first 38 with a fractured forearm, a result of being hit-by-pitch during spring training. The 32-year-old All-Star hit .250/.323/.393 with a home run in 32 plate appearances.

Boesch, 29, hit .209/.244/.419 in 20 games for the Yankees prior to being demoted on May 14, the same day Granderson completed his previous DL stint. Boesch hit .179/.343/.214 in seven minor league games.
