Michael Bourn was thrown out stealing to end the top half of the seventh inning against the Red Sox on Sunday. Indians' manager Terry Francona saw Bourn arguing with umpire Tom Hallion about the play, and went to the field to back up his outfielder on the matter. The thing is, the timing was all wrong: the argument went on so long that "God Bless America" began to play at Fenway, as it does at this time.

Luckily, everyone remembered what they were supposed to do during this moment. Well, mostly.
This display of patriotism wasn’t enough to overturn the call, however, it did help end the argument. There’s no truth to the rumor that MLB is just going to have “God Bless America” on hand for the next time Angel Hernandez screws up, but they should probably consider using that distraction whenever they can.
