Around the Bases: Tuesday’s scores and highlights

Braves 7, Blue Jays 6: Jose Bautista hit a home run, but it was all for naught when Brian McCann hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th for Atlanta.

Rockies 2, Astros 1: The Rockies took the lead in the ninth when Michael Cuddyer drove in Troy Tulowitzki. Without checking, guess who the Astros catcher, shortstop, and center fielder were in this one. Doubt you get any of them without cheating.

Phillies 3, Red Sox 1: A stellar start from Cliff Lee and a classy home run from Michael Young give the Phillies a 3-1 win in Fenway. This after an emotional first pitch at Fenway Park.

Nationals 9, Orioles 3: Despite having their B-lineup on the field, the Nationals were able to beat up on rookie sensation Kevin Gausman. Their own rookie, Nate Karns, had struggles of his own and only made it through 4 1/3 innings in this one.

Pirates 1, Tigers 0: Rick Porcello struck out 10 batters in this game on purpose (the Pirates were even trying their hardest!). Ultimately Neil Walker would homer in the 11th to score the only run in the game and give the Pirates a 1-0 win.

Reds 8, Indians 2: The Reds scored three in the first and were able to cruise in this one. Luckily no 100 mph fastballs were directed at anyone in this game.

Rays 7, Marlins 6: Rays walk off in this one as they got major production from the bottom of their lineup. Their bottom 4 hitters all had multi-hit games. The Marlins have devolved to where we now show you things like this...

Mets 2, Yankees 1: ESPN Stats and Info's Mark Simon reports this game was the first time legendary Yankee Mariano Rivera took a loss without recording a single out in an inning. Oh, and that Matt Harvey guy pitched eight strong innings and struck out 10 batters for the Mets to help set it up.

Cardinals 4, Royals 1: Tyler Lyons put together his second quality start since being called up, and home runs from Carlos Beltran and Matt Carpenter supplied the run support. The Royals' season is starting to look familiar.

Dodgers 3, Angels 0: Hyun-Jin Ryu threw a complete-game shutout in this one, and showed why the Dodgers were willing to pay so much to acquire him.

Twins 6, Brewers 5: Aaron Hicks hit a home run and scored the winning run in the 14th inning for the Twins. Oh, and made a pretty nice catch. Not to be lost: Milwaukee's Jean Segura had six hits, becoming the first MLB player in five years to do so according to ESPN.

Athletics 6, Giants 3: A good start by Jarrod Parker and home runs by Derek Norris and Adam Rosales carry the A's in this one.

Padres 6, Mariners 1: Edinson Volquez pitched 7 2/3 decent innings and the Padres were able to cruise over the Mariners by a score of 6-1.
