Texas Rangers right-hander Alexi Ogando is scheduled to make a rehab start at the club's Double-A affiliate on Friday and could return to the rotation as early as next week, reports Randy Jennings of ESPN Dallas.
Alexi Ogando injury: Rangers starter on track to return next week
The right-hander is scheduled to make his final rehab start at Double-A Frisco on Friday.

The right-hander will throw either five innings or 75 pitches at Double-A Frisco on Friday, whichever comes first.
Ogando, 29, has been on the disabled list with biceps tendinitis since May 17. He is eligible to come off of the DL on Saturday, but because of his throwing schedule he won’t get a shot at taking the hill for the big-league club until June 7 at the earliest.
The Rangers have gotten on fine in Ogando's absence -- filling his spot with mediocre turns from Josh Lindblom and Martin Perez -- but his return should help put the rotation back on top as the one of the AL's best. Despite a serious back injury to Matt Harrison and lingering arm issues with Colby Lewis, the Rangers rotation holds claim to the second best earned-run average (3.58) in the league.
Ogando holds a 3.08 ERA and 6.7 K/9 in nine starts, not bad for a guy who keeps jumping back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation.
