Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will "likely" hit the disabled with bursitis in his left knee, reports Amanda Comak of the Washington Times.

Harper sat out five games this week and will miss several more once this move is made official.

The team is expected to call up right-handed reliever Erik Davis to take Harper's roster spot. Davis tweeted last night that he was getting called up, so there has been speculation as to who the team would put on the DL. Davis has an ERA of 3.00 in 24 innings at Triple-A Syracuse.
It has been a tumultuous season for the Nationals’ phenom outfielder, as despite his hot start, he has also sustained a couple of injuries to this point. Along with the bursitis, he also slammed into the right field wall at Dodger Stadium, but he did not sustain any serious injuries.
For a player that plays as hard as Harper does, it is concerning to see him sustain a nagging injury such as this one.
The call-up of Davis may predicate that pitcher Stephen Strasburg is the one ticketed for the DL, as he sustained a minor injury of his own in Friday night's game.
The Nationals have not lived up to their lofty expectations so far this season, and the injury to their star player will certainly not help. They do expect to have Jayson Werth back soon, as per the article, so that could provide them with a bit of a boost as they look to get back on track.
