Around the Bases: Monday scores and highlights

All the scores and highlights from Monday’s action.

Al Messerschmidt

Brewers 6, Marlins 1: Yovani Gallardo pitched eight shutout innings, and the Brewers scored him enough runs to where he didn't even have to do that much. The Marlins are doing their best to ensure the Astros don't get a third straight first overall pick.

Reds 6, Cubs 2: Battling through some serious fog, the Reds were able to defeat the Cubs, 6-2. Homer Bailey pitched well in this one, and Brandon Phillips hit a home run.

Rangers 6, Indians 3: A clutch seventh-inning home run from Lance Berkman gave the Rangers the lead in this one, and they would never look back.

Royals 3, Tigers 2: Jeremy Guthrie pitched well in this one as the Royals continue to try and get back on track. Salvador Perez chipped in with a triple.

White Sox 10, Blue Jays 6: Adam Dunn hit not one, but two home runs, and the demise of the Blue Jays and R.A. Dickey continued. It's getting ugly in Toronto.

Padres 7, Braves 6: Julio Teheran soldiered through six innings and Jason Heyward and Evan Gattis provided the offensive firepower, but it wasn't enough, as the Padres would ultimately win.

Red Sox 10, Rays 8: This game was an absolute marathon. In 14 innings, the Red Sox were able to outlast their AL East counterparts. Dustin Pedroia was the hero in this one, making two fantastic defensive plays to bail the Red Sox out in dire spots. Plus there was a benches-clearing brawl.

Orioles 4, Angels 3: Adam Jones hit a home run as Freddy Garcia turned in a quality start. The Orioles keep defying all logic.

Mariners 3, Astros 2: Raul Ibanez hit a home run and Michael Morse had an RBI double in a quiet win for Seattle. Hisashi Iwakuma continued his tear, striking out eight while allowing four hits and a run in seven innings of work to lower his ERA to 1.79.

Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 4: The Diamondbacks were down 3-1 heading into the top of the ninth, but Brandon League blew the save with two outs. Juan Uribe led off the bottom of the ninth to get the Dodgers back to within a run, but although Los Angeles had runners on the corners with nobody out, Heath Bell managed to close out the game and get the save. Gerardo Parra, Cody Ross and Willie Bloomquist all had multi-hit games for Arizona.
