Oswalt, 35, is scheduled to make one last minor-league start -- likely on Friday -- before joining the Rockies’ starting rotation, reports Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
The Fun is in the Worrying
Fantasy baseball's true currency is not luck or preparation, but diligence. Signed to a minor-league deal on May 2, Oswalt has made four starts at Double-A Tulsa and has put up stronger numbers each time out. The veteran right-hander put together his longest outing so far on Sunday, surrendering just one earned run in seven innings of work while striking out four.
Overall, Oswalt holds a 2.88 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 25 innings. The right-hander has allowed five long balls in his four starts, which is never a good sign before embarking on a stint at Coors Field, but has also limited his walks and hits.
Oswalt is hitting the low 90s on the radar gun with regularity and has thrown over 90 pitches in each of his last three starts, so he should be ready to bolster the Rockies' rotation when called upon next week. Outside of Jorge De La Rosa and Tyler Chatwood, Colorado has failed to get much in the way of quality starts from its rotation, causing the bullpen to be over-worked.
