Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register that Puig felt "a little sore" following the team's brawl on Tuesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mattingly penciled in Puig to start in right field and hit cleanup Wednesday, but the injury flared up before the game. The rookie "took five swings of batting practice, walked off field, threw his bats and helmet in dugout, then walked to clubhouse with trainers," reported Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News.
Alex Castellanos will start in right field in place of Puig, but will hit eighth in the lineup. Jerry Hairston will move up one spot in the lineup to replace Puig in the No. 4 spot.
The Dodgers would hate to see Puig miss an extended amount of playing time, as the team has already placed 15 different players on the disabled list for a total of 20 different stints, per Eric Stephen of True Blue LA. Puig has looked impressive at the plate, hitting .471/.500/.882 in his first 36 career plate appearances.
