Miguel Cabrera is arguably the best hitter on the planet. David Lough is a 27-year-old with little major-league experience who has spent most of 2013 in the PCL. None of that matters on this Cabrera liner that should have been a two-out gapper, one that should have put another Tigers' run on the board:
David Lough makes diving catch, flips over repeatedly
Don’t worry, his head survived this, and he held on to the ball to boot.

Lough lays out for it at the last second, and tumbles twice, losing his sunglasses in the process. The WXYT play-by-play announcer actually thought the sunglasses were the ball coming loose, as they separated themselves from Lough almost too violently to have come from his head. As you can see, though, when he casually flips it from him, the ball remained in his glove, ending the inning and sending the world’s best hitter back to the dugout.
The second flip is where it’s at, by the way. The first flip, you can understand, given the momentum involved -- it was that or slide on his back across the warning track for a bit. The second, though, that just underscores how hard Lough was going at this ball that he probably should not have reached.
