Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowitzki, Dexter Fowler all hurt in Rockies loss

The Rockies lost not one, not two, but three players in today’s game.

Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez and Dexter Fowler were all injured in today's loss to the Nationals, reports Troy Renck of the Denver Post.

Tulowitzki, who could be facing the DL, was the most-severely injured player. He broke his rib fielding a ground ball in the eighth inning, and had to leave the game.

Gonzalez was injured in the first inning when he was hit by a foul ball in the on-deck circle, but X-rays were negative and he is currently day-to-day. His injury was the scariest, as he did not have time to even try and evade the ball that hit him in the leg.

Fowler was hit on the hand by a pitch in the third inning and had to leave the game in the fifth inning. Fowler’s injury is being called a contusion to his right ring finger. He is day-to-day and does not sound too serious. As a switch-hitter, he could always hit from the opposite side while he lets the hand heal, if he feels that is necessary.

For a team that has beat the odds to this point to remain in contention, these three injuries could provide major blows. While Tulowitzki’s is the most severe at the moment, losing three key contributors all at once could be a costly blow to a fringe contender at best.
