David DeJesus injury: Cubs OF placed on DL after wall collision
Chicago Cubs outfielder David DeJesus is undergoing X-rays on his shoulder after colliding with the wall in a game against the Mets on Friday night.

In the bottom of the third inning against the Mets Friday night, Cubs center fielder David Dejesus collided with the outfiled wall while trying to track down a Juan Lagares fly ball. The collision forced DeJesus to leave the game and he is now undergoing X-rays on his shoulder, reports Matt Ehalt of ESPNChicago.com.

DeJesus was visibly in pain and clutching his right shoulder following the collision as manager Dale Sveum and the training staff rushed to him. After several minutes he left the field and was replaced by Ryan Sweeney. There is no report on the extent of the injury at this point but after seeing the incident Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune believes that a DL stint is likely.
DeJesus is hitting .258/.316/.434 in 215 plate appearances for the Cubs this season with six home runs and 18 runs batted in. If he does need to miss extended time as a result of this injury, his in-game replacement Ryan Sweeney is the player most likely to see increased playing time as a result. Sweeney is hitting .345/.406/.500 over 64 plate appearances this season and is generally regarded as a strong defender. The Cubs also have another replacement option in Julio Borbon on their bench.
