Detroit Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez left his start early against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday after skipping his last start with shoulder stiffness.

Sanchez had to skip his previous start with shoulder stiffness and left Saturday’s game before the end of the fourth inning.

Sanchez threw just 3 2/3 innings, and allowed a two-run home run and four walks against Minnesota. The starter walked the first two batters in the second inning, which prompted a visit from manager Jim Leyland and head athletic trainer Kevin Rand, but Leyland momentarily left Sanchez in the game.

The Tigers have yet to say whether they removed Sanchez due to general ineffectiveness or an injury, but the starter missed his last start with shoulder stiffness. Leyland was worried about Sanchez before the start, telling Chris Iott of MLive “I’m still holding my breath until I see him tonight.”
Sanchez, who signed a five-year, $80 million deal with the Tigers in the offseason, has pitched well for Detroit this year, posting a 2.65 ERA in his first 12 starts this season.
Update: Jim Leyland talked with members of the media after the game, telling them Sanchez is healthy. "He felt fine," Leyland said (via Iott).
