Mark Appel and the Houston Astros have reached an agreement on the No. 1 draft pick's bonus figure, which will be worth $6.35 million, Jim Callis of Baseball America is reporting.
Mark Appel, No. 1 MLB Draft pick, agrees to terms with Astros for $6.35 million, per report
The No. 1 overall pick will reportedly sign the largest deal since the new draft rules came into play.

Reports earlier on Saturday stated that Appel and Houston reached an agreement worth more than $6 million, but Houston denied the reports. Appel is expected to sign the deal early next week.
Byron Buxton, the No. 2 overall choice last season, signed for $6 million with the Minnesota Twins, a record Appel would break. The former Stanford Cardinal will certainly shatter the record for a bonus given to a college senior; Matt LaPorta set the previous record with a $2 million bonus as the No. 7 pick in 2007 with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Appel is expected to receive $2.55 million more with the Astros than he would have last season if he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pittsburgh selected Appel with the No. 8 pick.
