New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez took another step forward on his recovery from off-season hip surgery, running the bases at 75 percent speed for the first time on Saturday, according to Andy McCullough of the Star-Ledger.
Alex Rodriguez injury: Yankees star runs bases at 75-percent effort
Rodriguez continues to make steady progress toward a return from off-season hip surgery.

Rodriguez, 37, has also been able to take batting practice recently. However, running is always a big test when returning from a hip injury.
Rodriguez’s name has been heavily involved in baseball’s ongoing Biogenesis scandal. Despite having that issue to deal with, he has been making steady progress and remains on track for a return sometime after the All-Star break.
The Yankees signed Kevin Youkilis in the offseason to take over third base in Rodriguez's absence. However, Youkilis has hit just .219 with a .648 OPS this season. He has also played in just 28 games this season due to injuries of his own.
Youkilis landed on the disabled list again earlier this week. Though David Adams is listed as the starting third baseman on the Yankees' depth chart, it has been Jayson Nix moving from shortstop and starting at the hot corner with Reid Brignac starting at short.
